Baby Loss Support Group

We are so sorry your baby has died. Hōkai Tahi’s baby loss support group is available to parents who have experienced the devastating loss of a precious little one, and offers its support to you as you journey through grief and loss.
We recognise that everyone’s journey is very different, and welcome anyone who is grieving, no matter the reason their baby died, their age, or gestation. There is no right or wrong way to grieve – we invite you to come as you are into a space of empathy, acceptance, and aroha.

Support Group Format

Our Baby Loss Support Groups are 2 hr sessions, and follow a 6-week program catered to the needs of the group. There is plenty of space for whakawhanaungatanga, sharing your journey and the life of your baby.

  • Journey through loss and grief through sharing your story
  • Facilitated by a registered counsellor + support coordinator
  • Comfortable, empathetic, safe space
  • Fully accessible + bathroom
  • Breakout space available for time alone
  • Opportunity for additional support outside of group
  • FREE thanks to generous funders and supporters

Session topics may include:

  • Grief and Identity
  • Physical and Mental Side Effects
  • Including our Babies in our Lives
  • Art Therapy
  • Relationships after Loss
  • Dealing with Comments and Remarks

Our sessions are based on similar events by SANDS and advice provided by Vicki Culling Associates, and facilitated by a registered counsellor and support coordinator.
